This week we talked about our tendancy to procrastinate or put off work to ‘tomorrow’. I know many people who do this on a daily basis (including me), so I decided to provide information and insight on this topic
How can you train for Bias for Action?
We discussed that we just need to snap out of it, remember why you started, remember why you are here and just get up and get going.
Count to three and promise yourself when you reach three you will begin your work, many tks memebers actually agreed on this one that it actually works
Hold people accountable, when you can’t get up and do something, ask your parents or friends to get you up and on with your work.
The thought process behind taking Action
The thought of doing work is actually more stressful then doing the work itself. The feeling of guilt and self-hatred only grows when you keep putting off work. So slowly but surely each day slips by until suddenly the deadline is in the next two days and nothing has been done and you go all panic-mode. Those are the worst days, you pull all-nighters and work non-stop 24/7. It is very unhealthy and no matter how many times you do that, you never learn , you never stop procrastinating. That is where the problem roots.
Solutions I thought of
Make a habit, when you need to do something repeatedly like once a week or a day. It is proven that it taken 66 days (2 months) exactly to build a habit, so do the action for two months and then the rest to taken care of. (Using this currently for my newsletter)
Make a schedule, break down a project into smaller parts and assign it to each day, be specific with it so you know exactly what to do and what you need for it. Perhaps you need to make a poster tommorow, so you keep the materials on your desk or somewhere nearby so you can begin immediately when you wake up.
Start with small tasks, this will boost the dopamine in the brain which is your attention and motivation chemical. It will help you keep a positive attitude with your task and wellbeing.
A little info on what was done on our TKS session
We were told to build NFTs and first it seemed like a really lengthy difficult task, but we finished it in like 5 minuites. It was truly amazing on how complex and stressful I thought the task was, but in reality it did’nt even need experience, anyone could have made it easily. And I recommend all you to try it atleast once, just to get a feel on how effortless this task was. Don’t sit there and just read this post, go on do it!!

Bonus!
I added a really funny ted talk of Tim Urban as he talks about how it is like to be procrastinator
Check it out!
